Live Art Network Africa - Postponed

10 Nov 2017 - 15:45

The launch of the Live Art Network Africa (LANA), and the accompanying symposium scheduled to take place from 30 November - 3 December 2017 at the University of Cape Town’s Hiddingh Campus, has been postponed to 17 - 21 February 2018. This difficult decision was taken in the wake of ongoing protests, and the Institute for Creative Arts (ICA) tenders sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.
The ICA nevertheless looks forward to hosting this rich and stimulating event in the new year. The programme features nationally and internationally acclaimed curators and artists, as well as prominent academics who straddle the fields of art and academia, alongside emerging voices in performance art research and criticism. The symposium will feature addresses, panel discussions and papers around some of the salient issues of live art alongside performances and screenings. Moreover, LANA will be a platform for connecting artists and academics practising and researching in the interdisciplinary field of live art.
The ICA envisages LANA as an important step towards building sustainable infrastructures for the support of live art on the continent.
